Working with a Tapping Practitioner should be considered at your discretion, but it isn't necessary for you to achieve results, in most cases.
While Tapping itself is a safe process that you can learn and apply yourself, sometimes our issues can just be too overwhelming for us to address ourselves.
A practitioner can be effective at gently guiding you through some tough spots that you may be afraid to work on, or otherwise unable to connect with because your mind has disassociated itself from it.
Practitioners can also help by bringing to light certain insights about ourselves that we haven't recognized before, as well as provide the benefit of experience.
